He was back at work on this today. Yes, it only has two truss rods and apparently it has been that way for some time, maybe since the 1920's rebuild. But the truss rods on the car now may not be from the D&RGW era. If you look at the photo on the right, you'll see there are no turnbuckles. The current rods are bolted together! Plus they are only 1", not 1-1/8 which most everything else is. I asked about the bolster, it apparently like 0578 in that it is a riveted assembly, not cast like 0579.

The needle beams are 3 3/4" x 7 1/4" which should be roughly the same as everything else. Not sure what else could be said, but the focus of the current restoration is above the frame.

Does anyone know any information about the restoration of the cars before they were placed on the bridge? The NPS web site says they were placed there in 1974.
