It all depends on tower location and who has equipment on the tower.

Many times several carriers will have equipment on the same tower -- many towers out there are not owned by the service providers, but by independent firms that will rent space to the providers.

The utility company I work for has leased tower sites to Crown Castle which is the #2 tower company. I find that it has about 40,000 tower sites. The largest is American Tower with 144.000 sites. These and others make their money by leasing space (often by 10-year contracts) to the cell phone companies.
