And we do truly appreciate your support Richard and of those others like you who have made donations. There were many people that believed this was just "talk" or that we were just daydreamers. However thanks to your support and the support others that were willing to believe in the project, there will be a Steam locomotive arriving at the Como depot this summer!
Also, we need to give credit to the Rocky Mt. RR Club, NRHS, The Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation and the Summit Foundation for awarding grants to a non-profit that was only 6 months old! These were not huge amounts but that fact that these organizations would have even considered an application from such a young 501(c)(3) is amazing and without their support, this would not have been happening.
However, while the locomotive WILL be under steam and running, she will NOT be completed. We still will need to finish repairing and re-installing the trailing truck and have a new pilot and cab built along with a number of other smaller details. When the #4 is completed and when the Roundhouse work will be completed still all depends on future funding. A number of people on this board have already stepped up to help but if anymore else would still like to consider it, please consider a donation at
The Como Project Donation Page.
Or, you can come out to Como during Boreas Pass RR Day
(Aug 19) and buy a t-shirt or a hat. All proceeds of course will got to the Como project. We also plan to be running on
September 2nd and 3rd in conjunction with the National Narrow Gauge Convention. So, feel free to stop by Como on your way to Chama for the RGS charter.
