Here's an invitation to start a thread or continue this one about Bob Richardson. We all know what he did to preserve equipment, records and really promote and save narrow gauge history. He was a visionary and I for one was privileged to be a CRRM volunteer and know Uncle Bob. Keep the thread focused on candid Bob Richardson stories. I started as a volunteer at the CRRM in 1978. Dirk Ramsey was all ready there along with several volunteers who are still volunteering. Me included
Saturday evenings we would go to Pietras ( a pizza joint) and Bob would tell stories. We would be enthralled with his yarns. We knew most of them were true as he never changed the stories each time he told them. I could kick myself for not having a tape recorder. A lot of his tales are in the "Chasing The Narrow Gauge books. On some Saturday afternoons, Bob would get us in the basement of the Museum building (long before the library was built) and show his slides and movies.
One of the classics was the Waco, Beaumont, Trinity & Sabine (Is that right Russ?) The Wobbly, Bobbly Etc. Bob would narrate his silent film. with an accent and a totally politically incorrect commentary. That had us rolling in the aisle. Bob had a great sense of humor that could turn sarcastic at times. The world is a better place
because of him.
Please feel free to continue this thread about Bob. It will help continue his legacy. Dirk, I know you have a ton of stories.
