Hi Greg,

The person to talk to about color shots of Long Island steam in the 1950s would be Art Huneke. He has a number of really excellent photos (mostly his own work) posted on his website and he may be willing to let you use some of them.

I actually own the original slide for the last photo on the second page (LI G5 4-6-0 No. 24 with train 4625 at Port Jefferson, NY in August 1954 -- Port Jefferson being my home town) but it's Art's photo and I believe he still owns the rights to it.
