I remember talking with Betty Kimball while we watched the "Eureka" arrive in Sacramento in 1991. It was the locomotive's first trip after being restored by Dan Markoff. CSRM was celebrating it's 10the anniversary with a rail fair.

Betty told that while on their honeymoon in 1936, Ward and she visited Hobart and saw the 4-4-0. She said that they were captivated (She used the word "smitten") with the locomotive. Looking at the photo you can see why they were.
