You caught one of the many current issues of the caboose for this era...

Stencil should be properly aligned

also
Window trim was larger with the "sunrise herald"
cut levers were different
there was no lantern on the roof (barely visible in this pic)
she did not have a cap on the stove vent pipe (not visible in this pic)
end beams were rounded instead of squared

0404 only wore the sunrise herald from 1941 to 1943 when she was wrecked. There was a repaint in this time frame where some of the accessories colors changed.

What you missed or neglected to mention, was the small model of 0404 on the B end deck of the prototype...
