As a former employee of the RocketDyne division of North American Aviation who worked personally on the NA version of the Lunar Excursion Module (and a personal friend of Buzz Aldrin's daughter Jan), I can certify that no worms were harmed during the creation of your story, which SFAICT was published about six hours too soon according to the time-stamp on your post (although for Chris, Ozinoz et al in the antipodes it is already April 1st.
