Actually, 169 seems to have gotten around the system. After her rebuild after the Cumbres wreck, she shows up in photos in Durango in 1924, then in photos in Montrose, also with engineer Lewis Lathrop, probably in Montrose. Then she appears in and around Santa Fe in spring of 1933. Otto Perry photographed her there in his famous photos two days about a week apart. This was about the time 168 made its last run on the Lake City Branch. I doubt either one of them saw any further regular service after early 1933. K-28's took over the "new" mixed train on the Santa Fe branch, while the 168 had nowhere to run with the Lake City branch shut down and C-18's and C-19's handling the passenger train between Gunnison and Montrose. Of course, 168 was pulled from the deadline for short-time movie work on the Santa Fe branch, but that was it.
