Actually, I've heard rumors on several fronts about that happening sometime this year. Informed sources say the rotary really doesn't need that much to spin, although, to my (very limited) knowledge, it hasn't seen maintenance in years.
I have also heard, -widely-, that the rotaries do not do well in packed snow and ice...
That's all we have at this point. There's 3 feet(ish) of snow at 8000 (in the yard), and 6 or more feet at Cumbres Pass.
Most people probably don't know that because it isn't a locomotive, it's not subject to federal boiler laws (but -is- subject to state and local laws).
