Four of us from the Loveland/Ft. Collins area ventured down there yesterday in mid-afternoon. Parking was an issue (expected), and once we got inside, we found it very difficult to really shop around. The aisles were packed with shoppers, and it was darned near impossible to navigate. The level of stock on the shelves was encouraging, but in most cases, prices were not yet marked on the merchandise, and many of the unmarked items also lacked bar codes, which made checkout a laborious process. As noted before, the checkout line stretched from the front counter clear around one side and along the back wall. As large-scale modelers, we were disappointed in the limited selection of merchandise, but were assured that there would be a better selection in the future. While a couple of us found items and supplies we would have liked to buy, we decided to pass because of the length of the lines and the fact that we had a long drive ahead to get back home.
I'd have to say, though, that we were favorably impressed by what has been accomplished to date, and we'll go back at a time when it's less crowded. It's obvious from the turnout that the new Caboose has a potentially strong customer pool, and we wish them well!
