Hi, Jimmy -
Is "R Morgan" actually Eldon Morgan? I ask this only because in the May, 2015 issue of
TRAINS magazine there's an article by John Gruber in which he returns to Chama and gets back together with three D&RGW crewmen whom he met when riding from Alamosa to Chama on August 28 & 29, 1967 - one of whom was Eldon Morgan. I was there that same week (see photos at [
ngdiscussion.net]), and apparently John West was there too! Mr. Gruber's visit was exactly one year to the day(s) before the very last D&RGW revenue freights were operated over Cumbres Pass, and Eldon was again involved – as the engineer on helper #483 westbound on August 28, 1968, and eastbound on helper #484 the following day (see photos at [
ngdiscussion.net]).
