there are only two positions there, I suggest you check this Article with exploded view drawings

to see the construction of our Semaphores. Note the Blade pivot point, note the aspect Spectacle is not part of the Blade and moves conjointly. Note the Blind plate that shields the Lamp to allow the Signalman (and Enginedriver's) to see where the opposing signal is Off or On. The Counterweight arm is also shown in detail.
My original Depot was in the middle of two lines that had about 60% of the Stations still using Semaphores until Track Warrant control allowed the retirement of such about '93. You know I never pointed the camera at all that wonderful Victorian cast hardware, just taking it all for granted. However I was able to salvage a redundant 2-position colour light Distant Signal head while I was on the Work-train removing the Signals from Hukanui, that resides in my driveway.
