The motorized railcar now at Strasburg was built by the LO&S in 1914 to three foot gauge and was used on the line until abandonment. A second hand narrow gauge coach was used, with new rounded ends constructed and attached to the narrow gauge center section. The drive system transmitted power through the front trucks pivot point. I'm pretty sure the original drive system is still intact, only the original Buffalo marine engine has been replaced. Truly a rare gem, and Pa pedigree to boot.
In the 80's when I rode the Strasburg, at one point on the line they alluded to the LO&S as a ghost rr at the other end of the valley. On cue they blew the whistle, and the resulting echo was said to be the ghost LO&S answering.
Stan and Mike are the definitive go to guys when it comes to the Peach Bottom -LO&S. I can say without any doubt that their presentation will be first rate, and absolutely worth seeing.
