IIRC, per one of Dorman's books, Aztec was the busiest depot on the entire D&RGW at one time. There was a LOT of oilfield equipment and pipe coming in, and plenty of empties going out - see Earl's post below.

With nothing better to do than read nearly every post, and I butt in every chance I get mainly to keep the monitors on their toes.*

Roger was way ahead of me 'til a couple of years ago, but he's been so busy playing with his drone and chasing wildlife that I finally caught up.  And your post count is way more than 1/3 of mine - 4003 vs 9805 is almost 41%, actually.     spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

* If you type "N I M B Y" without the spaces, the NGDF software will substitute "@#$%&", making the JéBêWèX's job way too easy, so I feel compelled to challenge him once in a while.  But IIRC I've only been put on 'time out' just once – when I joined Johnny Coal in recommending that a certain incompetent employee be dismissed.  The RR later followed our advice . . .
