At the Springfield show I spoke at length with Brian Fanslau of Boothbay Railway Village who oversaw the rebuild of Edaville #11. The owner (Edaville's Jon Delli Priscoli) wanted a tender engine so that's what he got. It really did come out nice, even if it is a kitbash of something that it was not during its in-service life. The fact that it runs at all after the many years of abuse as a "park engine" is really amazing.
I'm looking forward to the reveal of Boothbay's latest project, a 1895 two-foot Baldwin - SD Warren Paper Mill #2. It's due to be under steam this spring.
