Thanks Herb,
Cab curtains are printer paper, folded and stained. We tried with our first model (C-17 No 42) to make all pipes and hoses go where they were supposed to. With 318 it was harder to tell what went where. The engine at the CRRM is somewhat different from the engine that ran in the 40's and 50's. I think we got it all but could be missing something.
One thing with building and connecting model engines, by the time you get the draw bar and wiring connected, it is very difficult to run all the "hoses" too! The red water lines are present because we saw this on one of the C&TS locos. I dont know how accurate this is, and future models may be all black... The hoses are actually silicone insulation off of 20(?) gauge wire! Very flexible, and slips on the pipes quite well. The trouble becomes when you have to disassemble and reassemble the engine for maintenance or tweaking!
This is a pic of 318 about a month before painting. This was one of the first test runs with both engine and tender, sound and lighting.... Interesting note, the cylinder jackets are Budweiser cans that my brother cut and attached. This way they can be "dented" like the prototypes!!!
Casey
Edit, I should mention the Budweiser cans were emptied before installation!
