With 473 done and out of the way, 498 came off the track next to the roundhouse, out onto the turntable, then got turned to the track next to 478. My dad was not what one would call a railfan photographer. He just took pictures. Sometimes he got the entire locomotive in the shot. Sometimes not....
There's that kid in the way...again.
498 would be used on a freight train east in a few days doubleheaded with 487, which was steamed up inside the roundhouse.
...and that kid sneaks into the left side of the frame...again... Note the derelict #464 in the background.
From here we were off to get on the train. Our seats were in the open gon about 8-9 cars back from the head end.
