I remember that Kuralt segment, even though I was a kid at the time.
I remember passing through southern GA on our way to our annual visit to the rest of the family in NE Tennessee as a kid, and I think we were going through somewhere near Tifton and drove past an MOW gang doing that. That was back when most people didn't have reliable AC in cars so many people rode with the windows down all the time. I heard them chanting as they worked the bars to align the track. I had no idea at the time that I was hearing the last gasp of that history and would never hear it again.
It'd be doubtful you could get MOW gang re-enactors, as they'd have to get all that stuff right as well as taking part in some pretty tough manual labor, which was the reason they had those songs to begin with.
