Over the week end a fellow employee pulled up a new video ( well new to me ) of Heber Creeper steam Review Featuring former WMSRR 36; Ex Sierra Railway and SMVRR number
100 in service with Sound!! To my knowledge this is the only sound currently of former Sierra 36 including her Alco whistle and her Super Square stack talk. Also to re living my old
memories being this was my dads old engine and my favorite , this really shows how beautiful her former S. P. ( at least we believe) desert 5 chime. To me the best sounding five chime
for all time. So all past posts can now hear her whistle again! And not have to locate a copy of "Steel Rails under thundering skys" The 100 was never square for some reason , even
my dad said so at Santa Maria. I thought she always just kind of " danced up the hills" instead of " blasting up the hills" unlike her partner the 36. And I'm in some of the footage as
fireman all segments the 100,36 and ex S.P. 1744s maden trip after a shopping in 1980. Some footage has Reed Hatch as fireman and engineer, a lot of General Manager Craig Drury,
and Engineer and Fireman Scott McEuen. Filmed mostly 1979 season, July 4th double header 1979. And the only Double Header with S. P. 1744, 1981. Unfortunaly 100 had 35s old busted
finned five chime. And "Kelly" don't you remember that year? And Earl isn't it great to hear 100s exhaust again and her whistle. It's hard to keep dry eyes when you watch and listen to
that video!
I sure do miss those engines!
