Ah, Y2K doom and gloom were very serious, at least in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, and were handled in a very serious manner. For example, our son, who was with the county's Information Technology division, was given a very serious assignment the night of the millennial change.

He was given a flashlight and told to do something, although what he was supposed to do, and what the flashlight was to be used for, are to this date still quite unknown.

No, I did not make up that story, it is really what happened. On the other hand, he reported that nothing happened.
