I'm sorry, but if I knew the photographer's name, location, and/or RR name, I wouldn't be asking here.
Some key points:
The photo was b/w
It's a RR crossing with a single sign
2 F-units coming directly toward each other in perfect profile, with the rural RR crossing sign directly between the two. the meet was obviously going to happen exactly in the center of the grade crossing
Both trains are either moving fast or the exposure was a longer one. But they both look like they're hauling.
I've described this to a few local guys and most know the photo. One even described the lone crossing sign in the center, so I knew he knew the photo. But nobody could recall when and where.
