The guy whose name you didn't catch is Bill Collins. Helluva railroader. He shepharded the Spreader from Chama to Osier.
It was Bill and Ed Beard who primarily got the spreader working again.
Richard Mitchell is here on a contrct with specific job of fixing up the hoppers. He's also an experineced engineer and fireman and a good man for training junior engineers/firemen.
Yes, the expense of fixing the hoppers is going to be signiciant. Do you happen to know where there are some better ones for sale?
The spreader by now should have worked the whole line from Chama to Antonito. Purpose was fire prevention. For pictures and video see the link below. I shot video of the operation from Chama to Osier.
