It was built off of the steel flat 6634. The center sill, intermediate sills, end sills and bolsters from 6634 are under it. We replaced the side sills with new steel. The Bettendorf trucks came out from one of the SG stock cars. The body was built by a local company, while the frame and trucks were done in house.
They wanted a larger box car of steel construction. This allows for more capacity for hikers, rafters, ect. It will also be used for special events that requires generators to be put in the box car. A steel box is also unrestricted as car as placement in the train.
