One, about a quarter mile west of Cumbres summit, toward but before Windy Point, is a single length of rail with an insulated joint at each end. It is the outside rail away from the mountain. There is electrical cable connected to the rail near the middle, but no evidence of where it led. No sign of the inside rail having a similar insulated section. Any ideas of what this was for, or how it got there.
Two, and not sure whether this qualifies as narrow gauge or not. Traveling west on I-70 about ten miles up the canyon from Salina, Utah there were two railroad tunnels clearly visible along the road. And signs of a former right of way along the freeway were clear. I presume this was a steep branch off the Marysvale line from Salina east to a mine. No sign of it in my 1943 Official Guide, nor mention that I could find in Athearn's book. Can anyone provide any details?
