I don't recall what we paid in 1993, but it was similar to what Craft had paid the previous fall(1992). I do remember clearly the costs for the 1997 adventure. The first day of a single engine train was $3600.00, plus we paid an additional $700 for Diesel 15 to pull one coach as a camera platform to shoot back on 484, and we made two runs to Cumbres in one day(one Passenger and one freight). Earl told us there was a special 2-day rate of $5400.00. This was pre-season mind you. So Les Jarrett and I decided to dig deeper and for an additonal $1800.00 we could do a second day and we chose a freight Roundtrip Chama-Osier and back. John West found out about it and wanted a helper engine, so he paid for that for the second day, and joined us. We had a rear pusher from Chama-Cumbres and we chased it so they would not have to back up with the rear pusher on the hill. Things went great from 8-11 am as we reached Cumbres. We boarded the caboose there, and wound up with snow on the rails just west of Osier. Despite all the problems at Osier, I am glad now that we sprung for the second day, cause today it would cost us a small fortune to do something like that. At least it was deductible and brought in some extra revenue for the RR. The Chased By A Steam Train (2 videos), was only marginally successful. Here are the previews!!! Scroll down to the fourth one to see a preview of the two "Chase" videos. I thought it was cool to be able to watch the train behind you the entire way to Cumbres!!! Maybe I was ahead of my time on this project, and we should have waited for drones instead!
