Re: Narrow Gauge Mallets

Jay and everybody I have been looking into building one of the outside frame 2-8-8-2 in HOn3 for a couple of years. I have both the Rio Grande's and Rio Grande Southern's plans. They are very close in design and I have not decided which one to do.
I would have to go check in my files but I believe that the Rio Grande's design used two of the K-27 frames, with a new boiler and tender. I am trying to get a couple of K-27 frames in HOn3. If I can get them, I am off to a good start.
I am going to build the boiler, cab, tender, ect out of brass, but the frames, drivers, valve gear, ect are a little out of my legue.
I do know that if it were built, it would have had a TE of about 54,000 lbs. That would make it an L-54 on the Rio Grandes roster.
I have looked everywhere for the frames, rods, wheels. valve gear, ect. The best lead I have is Precision Scale is going to import K-36's in another year or so, and I am going to get the stuff from them. If anybody out there has what I am looking for, contact me.
