Well, the name BoilingMan is a play on BurningMan- all of our Chama visits are in the Fall, about the time BurningMan takes place (although usually a bit later- trying to hit the Fall Colors). When I took my vacation time and folks at work asked if I was going anywhere, I answered, "Yep. BoilingMan!".
I've been going through the Russo tread about his AFT time- that's quite a tread Russ!!!
If anyone's interested, I posted a similar series over on TrainOrders about 2yrs ago. It's on the Railroader's Nostalgia page. I hired out with the AFT in Jan 1976 and stayed with the train all the way to the end in Miami. The TO series was written in 52 postings that line up with what was happening during that week 38yrs to the week. The series is titled "My Dumb Luck: the AFT years". It's illustrated with my photos (I took about 2000) and includes individual maps of every move and every display site for 1976. (were possible I included info on mileage, water stops, and pilot crew changes too) I was not with the Engine Crew, I served as the train's Ast. Curator. I lived aboard, so I don't have many chase photos- making Russ' shots a real treat for me!
It's about as close as you'll get to an AFT book I guess?

Yes, I knew Russ during his stay with us. He was a volunteer and was living off his photo sales- I bought several and still have them to this day.
