The 12 was fully disassembled for shipment to the mainland and left the Port of San Francisco via SP on two flatcars. It joined the ex-Hawaii Railway Co. No. 5 on a lot Bob Keller secured in Alviso, CA, near the old South Pacific Coast depot site. Richard Houghton of Livermore (a Stanford colleague of Keller's, IIRC, though I could be completely off here) purchased the engine with the intent of operating it on the Tahoe, Trout Creek & Pacific, but ultimately the locomotive remained in "kit" form for many years until reassembled in the '80s for Silverwood. The Chama pictures above show the No. 5, though both engines would have been in Chama at that time.
