Not exactly.
Loooking at just the period 1937 on, the name San Juan was used in internal D&RGW documents for the 3' ga section of trains 115/116[1] as early as January '37. The observation car carried a traditional drumhead with the train name San Juan[2]. And finally, starting in 1950, the name was used in the D&RGW public timetable.
Earlier, of course, it spent most of the 20th century with the name Colorado and New Mexico Express with occasional variations on the theme, some of which included the words San Juan.
So, it was the San Juan, just as 17/18 were the California Zepher or 1/2 were the Scenic Limited.

[2] at least until they broke one of them and used one from the Shavano that was laying around to fill in...
