The fate of NCNGRR #9 sounds like that of 2ft gauge Lynton & Barnstaple Railway 2-6-2T Lew, which was the only one of the 5 L&BR locos not scrapped when the line was abandoned by the Southern Railway (UK) in 1935. It was sold to a coffee plantation in Brazil, and has vanished......

Among UK narrow gauge enthusiasts, Lew is something of a holy grail, and there have been attempts to trace her in Brazil over the decades, but with no success...... Instead, a replica has been built, named Lyn, and this can now be seen on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, as well as on visits from those to the re-built section of the L&BR out of Woody Bay station.
