Those "mountains" are pretty blurry, and there are also spots on the photo. Probably either the negative didn't get developed evenly -or- the print got splashed with developer. OTOH, there does appear to be a real mountain between the front of the engine and the tree at the far left of the photo. And see Ernie Robart's photo at [

* Within a couple of miles - no trees in my shot, but power poles in background are similar. I've tried several times to pin down exactly where I took this but without any luck. There's only a five- or six-mile stretch where the power poles are similar in style and at about the right distance from the highway - somewhere between Estrella and La Jara - and south of La Jara the fields are greener with a lot less sagebrush. IIRC, I lucked out when 'the pack' followed the old road through Estrella (or maybe Hartner) and I got past them by staying on the highway, then raced ahead to a small crossroad where Eldon would surely blow the whistle
