The same kind of people would be at Lizard Head in the Winter as would be at Marshall Pass, Cumbres, Tennesse Pass or, in earlier years, Boreas Pass, Corona, Alpine Tunnel...
You know, section men, telegraphers, car knockers and maybe families thereof. And they would be there for the same reasons.
The people who keep the railroad running.

ps altho by 1940 I think it was just a section crew at Lizard Head.
