Hi,
John Maxwell's original drawings (IIRC) are still together. The CRM tried to purchase the collection but the survivor's want too much (over value) the collection. Maxwells heirs have not been operating the business selling his drawings since the last one with interest in railroads died.
IIRC, the drawings (the copies I purchased) are from the 1950-60's. The copyright to thiss type of document (individuals vs. corporations) is that the copyright is in effect for 75 or 76 years from their creation. Since Maxwell's drawings were penned by him, 1950+75 = 2025. So the copyright on anything from 1950 woud expire in 2025. Since some drawings were penned in the 1960's, some will not expire until say 1970+75 = 2045.
I do not know how active the heirs are at prosecuting the violators of the copyright.
I hope this helps. I am sure I do not have everything correct - corrections and additions are welcome.
