Re: More on the NMC in Santa Fe

The problem, Rich, is that the NMC never built its roundhouse in Santa Fe! Although it is shown on some D&RG drawings, the NMC records show that only the turntable was ever installed. See your Colorado Annual No. 22, Journeys Through Western Rail History, for my extensive article on the SFC/NMC. It's entitled "Short Line Through a Lonely Land: The New Mexico Central."
If ever there was a railroad running on a shoestring, it was the SFC. They had so little money that they resorted to pinon ties and similar economies. At one point, they had only four employees maintaining their locos and cars.
