Hello folks,
On behalf of the Golden Spike Chapter R&LHS I'd like to publicly thank those that have donated to the 223 gofundme campaign so far. We are still very far from the goal, but there have been some hefty donations. Of note, we have had an anonymous donation of $200 and $250 from James Ehernberger, plus two employees of the Durango & Silverton and a gentleman whose ancestor worked for the Grant Locomotive Works.
Donations of more than $50 will receive a print of Gil Bennet's painting of the 223 if they provide an address. We are working on other incentives as well. We don't ask for large amounts of money, either - that's the beauty of crowdfunding, even if you only have $5 it will still help.
If anybody is interested, please see the donation page here:
gofundme Remember, the goal is to have the 223 under steam on May 10, 2019.
In preparation for locomotive work (which is the purpose of this fundraising campaign), two weeks ago the shop was rearranged to lay a second track alongside the tender to move the running gear into the shop. Pictures are on the facebook page.[
