I'm really excited about the turntable project, but I somehow hadn't realized how quickly it would be coming together! There are so many projects happening at the WW&F this year, either already underway or in the planning stages (e.g. turntable, boxcar 67 restoration, boiler work on No. 10, site preparation for the sawmill/shingle mill complex, and of course the continuing northward extension of the main line) that it's difficult to keep up. It makes me wish I didn't live 400 miles away so I would be able to get up there more often and help out.
For those who are curious, the original piece of turntable hardware mentioned above is one of the 8 queenpost caps that carried the truss rods (see red arrow below). It's amazing not only that a little piece of metal like that survived, but that the memory of what it was survived with it.
