It is also important to remember that even though the passenger trucks were sent to the Silverton, they have also worn out over the years. It is my understanding that most of the trucks in use now are new trucks since 1981. The D&S regularly has to replace pieces and parts as well as whole trucks as they wear out and break. In talking to a car shop worker a few years back, he stated that they average two pair a year.
