In the process of looking for the origins of the Hinman, I rediscovered some pix I took in 1968 of what was left of the Mexican ng. out of Mexico City. Steam was limited to some switching around San Lazaro yard in Mexico City, and the ng. itself would soon disappear by either standard gauging or abandonment.
The first picture is interesting (at least to me) because the engine is still lettered for the Ferrocarril Interoceanico even though it had been absorbed into the NdeM decades prior.
And then there is the hand powered turntable.
The NdeM's headlights looked large on standard gauge engines and on the ng. engines they looked REALLY large
This is a mainline pasajero leaving San Lazaro. The diesel looks almost brand new.
And finally this slide is dated March 1971 and must have been my last pic of the NdeM ng., I don't think it lasted much longer.
