Yes I think extra bag car for the holiday rush. No Walmart in Durango back then!!!
The Norfolk and Western ran Christmas Mail trains as second sections of the three main passenger trains through 1957. That meant for about a week we had 2 trains for the Cavalier, 2 for the Powhatan Arrow, and one for the Pocahontas.
6 steam in one direction and they were all 4-8-2, and J class. They were power short on some runs and had to run K1(no streamlining). Dad has a few movies, and there are nothing but mail, express and baggage cars on these trains. Got me in the Christmas Spirit and just wish I was older to shoot with a better camera......but if I had been older I probably would be gone by now!!!
GO BRONCOS. BEAT THE BUMS FROM PITTSBURGH!!!!

PS I am still looking for a source to get some Standard Gauge color images for the Rio Grande Standard Gauge Steam project.
