When I was in high school in the 80s, our library had stacks of the Ray Bradbury fiction magazine. I was not much of a reader until I was done with college, but I recall reading one that is a little hazy to me now.
It mentioned a quest for aliens in a modern-day US and involved the use of Army hovercraft (something even I at the time knew they didn't have) but it mentioned a HOn3 brass locomotive made by a company that I think was founded or supported by aliens as the model had a level of realism that wasn't possible for humans at the time.
I sure wish I could recall more than that...
