I spent part of the day around the RR in April for work. Its a really nice bunch of guys that run the line. The day I was there they were changing a traction motor. My recollection is due to the recession they were down to running only two NG trains a day of 16-18 cars each 4-5 days a week. I was told they have 70 years of product still at the mine and the NG works very well for them. I got no impression that RR is in danger anytime in the near future. The additional downtime had allowed them to work on upgrades to some bridges and track as well. They had also done a major multi month overhaul to the 112 last year IIRC. Very interesting railroad that does what any other short line would do, if it was SG no one would probably know it exists.
