He implied "built" rather that "RE-built", but What the He** - IMHO we should give him the benefit of the doubt
: "M"
IS for "Mega" ( meaning 'BIG')
...
OTOH, circle "M" might stand for "Oh-Mega" i.e. "Omega", so maybe those cars were reserved for shipping fish oil (or oysters, which - IIRC - were a delicacy much in demand in the mining camps of the San Juans, shipped packed in ice from the east coast in special insulated cars.)
