The whole thing about the one car at the BCHRS has me a little confused. I looked back, and John Templetons postings showed that both 1682 and 1882 were retired back in the fifties, and he proposed that the D&RGW may have not relisted cars when they were turned to idler flats.
John, maybe check and see if the D&RGW retired 1001, 1033, 1515, and 1567 in the fifties? This would tell us how the D&RGW handled the situation since all four of these cars are on the C&TS.
Anyway, after looking at John's info, I would say that in fact the car may be the 1826, and maybe the person who put the number on the car bolster got it backwards and put 1682? Since it appears that Steve Peck's list was right about 1282 and 1488, I would trust his number of 1826, but first, John, what do your sources say about the 1826. If it was left at the end of the line, I would hedge my bet that it is the other car.
