Another great West Side loss: Glenn Tyra of Tuolumne passed away at age 82 last month after a long illness in a VA hospital. Glenn was not only an active WSL photographer, who rescued and copied a large number of historic photos (doing his own darkroom work), but also saved and preserved a number of pieces of rolling stock which have now gone to various museums. A memorial service was held in Glenn's memory last Saturday (Nov 7th) and he is survived by his wife Jean and grown children. I could never have written two books about the West Side without his help in pointing me to various sources of information and photograophs. Glenn was such a fine gentleman and will be missed.
