Hi Dick,
Nice idea, but not necessary. We are a non profit and the charter participants covered the cost of the tour. When I was approached and offered payment for a "chaser's pass" I suggested that they contribute to the Friends instead.
Let me repeat that - Contribute to the Friends.
You will feel good about making a real contribution to preserving Rio Grande history and the friends will put it to good use. Their wheel fund is one area I might suggest contributing to. Two cars that we wanted to use on the charter were bad ordered on account of flat wheels. At $1,300 per wheel set, fixing problems like that doesn't come cheap.
The C&TS is an amazing operation. We had access to fabulous scenery, historic equipment and three days of fun and photos. All made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers and a dedicated group of employees of the C&TS. I can't name them all and I would hate to slight someone by excluding them, so let me just say, Well done, one and all!
Thank you.
