50 Years Ago Today

Let's all have a moment of silence. Fifty years ago today, March 21, 1953, was the Last Run of the D&RGW narrow gauge Ouray Branch. Bob Richardson was the only railfan/photographer on hand to record this historic event. No. 318 made the last run to pick up the remaining narrow gauge cars at Ouray to bring them back to Montrose. This also was probably the last day that No. 318 was in regular service, as it was sold to Cornelius Hauck shortly after, and is now preserved and under going restoration at the Colo. RR Museum in Golden.
