I ask someone at the railroad about that almost every summer that we are in Durango. The answer over the last several years is that they plan to restore it to operation. The railroad restored the tank at Hermosa (not to operation) a few years ago but forgot the spout, Ladder, and the door on the roof. But it is lettered D&RGW.
