why cut them off, a sg tie is much more stable than the 6 ft. ng one anyway. Besides, sg ties are readily available, however if you have a highway reconstruction project nearby that is removing guardrail posts, they are usually 6 footers and work well for ng ties. SVRR however not typical, has all sg ties. Ron
