After at least an hour delay at Lava we headed west. As we were cresting Cumbres the sky to the West north west was purple to just plan black. When we got to Durango every one found out about the washouts on the Silverton Right away Mr Jones, and several DRGW persons along with a couple people from the RMRRC Were in discussion on what to do. As an 11 year old kid I got the impression every one on the train though it now was going to be a two day trip instead of three. When every got to the depot the next day the train was pointed south and some folks were positive It was back east. Every one was asked to gather around, and we were told we were going to Farmington, and on the return some had rented busses to take all of us to the Kiva in Aztic. All of this was done of course to keep a whole train of on lookers from wandering around in Durango fouling the yards and keeping someone else from getting hurt As for who got hurt at Lava ,I think his name was MR Snow from Ohio. If there is any one who has a slightly older view as to what happened please chime in.
